On Thursday, April 8, 2010, The Kierrah Foundation will present The Disco Ball "One Nation Under A Cause" at the Legendary Jewel's Catch One Disco in Los Angeles. This fun and exciting event is a Celebration of the Music, Film, Culture, Art and Fashion of the 70s.

While many came out in droves to cheer on our favorite Blaxploitation Film Stars, others sought refuge in the discoteques and dance clubs where the sounds of Soul and Funk kept us dancing all night long. The Art was often an open rebellion against society, the war, racism and equaility. However, most of the 70s Art could be defined as a rich stew of happiness, hope and pride. The Fashion of the 70s had a wide range of distinct fashion trends; bell bottoms, hot pants, hip huggers, platform shoes, afros, side burns, mini skirts, maxi coats, gator shoes and gangster brims.

The Music, Art and Fashion influenced the culture of the 70s. While Marvin Gaye was asking "What's Going On", the Parliaments were hipping us to the fact there is "One Nation Under A Groove" and through it all, the Black Culture Exploded in the most beautiful way.

We will pay tribute to some of the Legendary Artists of the 70 who have made their transition from this life; Alvin Ailey, Florence Ballard, Lynn Collins, Tamara Dobson, Marvin Gaye, Teresa Graves, Ron Hardy, Shirley Hemphill, Phyllis Hyman, Michael Jackson, Issac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Ron O'Neal, Gordon Parks, Richard Pryor and Minnie Ripperton, just to name a few. We are looking forward to having some of the children and siblings of these legendary artists in attendance.
